Description

Carved model pole. On top of a thick round base sits a stylized human figure with a wide nose and deep-set closed eyes. The figure’s knees are together, toes pointed toward the front, holding a small child. A second similar figure sits atop the first, knees also drawn up, hands raised and held together in front of the chest just below the chin. Above this and at the top of the pole sits a large bird, small legs drawn up in front, large wings tucked to each side. The head is squared, with small ears. The eyes are closed under a heavy brow, and a wide beak comes to a point below the jawline. The back of the pole has been slightly hollowed.
