Feast Spoon (Slagwul) with Wolf Crest05.588.7332

The object is a large spoon (top in photograph) carved from a single piece of wood. Inside the bowl of the spoon in black and red is a painting of a wolf crest that includes a wolf with a large tail. The spoon is in good and stable condition. On the handle, at the top, there are two holes; on the body and legs of the wolf, there are small black pigment losses. See also 05.588.7331.

The object (bottom in photograph) is a carved wooden feast spoon by Tom Price. A "true' whale crest design has been painted on the bowl and lower handle of the spoon with black and red pigment. The spoon is in good and stable condition. Small hole at end of handle; 'blind' crack from end of handle running to hole. Old small losses on end of handle and on lower edge of spoon bowl. Small losses of black pigment along side of handle edges.See also 05.588.7332.

Feast Spoon with Bear-shaped HandleX583

Wooden feast spoon with long rounded bowl. The handle is carved with a sitting-bear effigy; upper claws, ears, mouth, nose and tongue, and a small tail are represented. Below the bears feet is carved a human face.
