Description

A hair ornament of flat silver shaped so that the inner surface is somewhat concave while the outer surface is somewhat convex. The ornament is shaped like an elongated marquise that is compressed in the centre. The outer surface has a main design consisting of a pattern of flowers and moths within a border that has a geometric design.

History Of Use

Worn at the back of the head. Used as an ornament on a woman's bun. Hair is wound over the centre and under the ends (collector).

Cultural Context

Worn by Hakka women in everyday dress.
