History Of Use
Ostrich eggshell bead necklaces are rubbed with a piece of limestone to a glassy finish.

Specific Techniques
Before polishing with limestone, necklaces are rubbed with a mixture of red ochre and gemsbok fat. Examples of these necklaces have been found in the tombs of the pharaohs.
