Snaring Stick Item Number: Aa138 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
A straight, brown stick, sharpened at one end, the opposite end is forked and has a small branch with hardened acacia gum. The bark of the branch has been removed in two places exposing the lighter inner wood. The gum is a transparent brown.
Shiny gum on the stick attracts secretary birds or kori bustard into the snare. Pecking at the gum triggers the snare.
