Description
Black patterned cotton headdress. The headdress is rectangular with three sides hemmed and one selvage side. There are white cord loops are sewn to two corners. The pattern has a zigzag motif.
History Of Use
Worn lengthwise over head, one end hanging down the back. End with loops folded over the top from the front about 1/4 of the length. Loops tied under bun at back of head. Women were traditionally expected to keep their heads covered (collector).
Cultural Context
Worn by Hakka women, both indoors and out, for everyday use, and for special ocassions.
