Knife Item Number: Sf500 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

A crescent-shaped blade with a short shaft and wider base. The thickness of the blade tapers to a cutting edge along the rounded edge.

Narrative

Inca style ? Late Horizon, 1476-1532 C.E. The form of the shaft and base suggests the blade was hafted to a stalk. An Incan knife has a figure on the handle who holds a hafted axe with this type of head (Kauffmann Doig).
