Description

29 hollow, golden beads of various shapes. There are six spherical beads in three different sizes and 14 convexly biconical beads in four size groupings. Five tabular beads, also hollow, have a recessed outline and convex centre on both faces. Four ellipsoid beads are rolled.

History Of Use

Beads from necklaces or adornments that may have been used in life or funeral contexts. The spherical beads often have Chimu Association (north coast, 750-1476 C.E.) but they may not be limited to the Chimu Style. The tabular and ellipsoid beads have been published as Vicus, far north coast c. 200 C.E. (Mujica, Gallo, et al) and Nazca, south coast, c.200 C.E. (Root).
