Crown Item Number: Sf800 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

A gold coloured, foil band with three rows of foil discs. The discs are attached by fine metal hooks which allow the discs to move freely. The two ends of the band have matching holes.

History Of Use

The ends of the band appear to have been joined together originally, forming a crown-like head piece. The use of gold foil and the quavering discs are particularly typical of artifacts from Frias. Gold crowns and other facial adornments are favoured in the Frias and the nearby Vicus Style.
