Description

Bracelet made of braided silver-like copper alloy metal with flat inner surface. Closes with a ball-headed silver screw (part b) through a fastener which is decorated by an oval of silver on the outside of the bracelet.

History Of Use

This braided silver bracelet is similar to ornaments worn by south Indian shadow puppets. These inexpensive bracelets are made for poor pilgrims and visitors, to be sold outside the Meenakshi Temple entrance in Madurai City (collector's notes).
