Narrative

The inscribed date places the painting in the early years of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and is by a well-known artist of the time, Yun Shou-P'ing (1663-1690), one of the so-called six orthodox masters. However the quality of the execution is not consistent with the known work of the artist so it is thought to be a later copy.
