Description

A crescent-shaped ornament made of sheet metal. Four punched holes near the inner edge of the crescent at the centre.

History Of Use

Crescent ornaments are unknown outside the Vicus area. They were probably used as necklace pendants or clothing ornaments (Schaffer). The four holes in the upper, central area suggest suspension or attachment.

Vicus style, Early Intermediate Period, contemporary with Moche 1 and 2; 0-200 C.E.
