Description

Seal made of single piece of bronze shaped like a rectangle with rounded edges; handle is in the shape of an elephant with a raised truck. On the elephant's back are seated two human figures. Raised characters on the underside are written in square stylized form; remains of ink around characters. Bronze has a smooth finish and a dark brown patina. Hole perforated through body of elephant for cord, now missing.

History Of Use

Used as a stamp to imprint characters on documents, paintings, etc. Such a seal is used in place of a personal signature.
