Description

241 assorted mineral and stone beads, mainly turquoise; strung on monofilament. The stone beads vary in shape, size and finish. There is no discernable order to the stringing. (Plastic fishing line was added by the collector for holding the beads.)

History Of Use

Turquoise beads are found in the graves of numerous ancient Peruvian cultures from very early on (c. 800 B.C.E.). The stones were also used for inlay in cast, hammered and carved objects.
