History Of Use

The type of supplementary weft patterning and the yarn construction are typical of Chancay textiles (Rowe). This fragment could be from the border area of a poncho shirt or loincloth. The bird's crest, with the triangular termination, shows some Chimu influence so it may date to the period of Chimu influence on the central coast.
