Description

Folding fan with seventeen inner ribs and two carved parent ribs of ivory. Covered on one side with white silk, edge bound with white paper with painted in design of wisteria and birds in green, brown and purple; some purple blooms are also embroidered. Silver coloured metal rivet with u-shaped loop.

History Of Use

The summer fan, round or folding, can be carried throughout the summer by men or women. The folding fan is seen more often at the theatre or on the street as it can be tucked into a kimono or obi more easily.
