Description

Carved wooden ladle with round bowl. The bowl has twenty-three drainage holes and four large holes oriented lengthwise in the centre. The handle narrows towards the rounded end and there is a hole in the end. The bottom of the bowl is rounded. The wood is a yellow-brown colour.

History Of Use

Clam spoon used to scoop clams out of boiling water. Clams and other shellfish were used extensively by the Coast Salish, and cooked in a variety of ways. They were often smoked or dried and stored for winter use.
