Description

Grey-bodied stoneware bowl with crackled glaze, on single ring pedestal base with straight sides expanding to mouth, and outturned rim. Enamelled overglaze in four shades of green, yellow, red, black, white and light red. On outside is band 6.5cm wide with overall floral, leaf and irregular scroll design and two peacocks. On inside of bowl at bottom are three oval patterns in light red outlined in yellow arabesques, surrounded by band of half marquises in black, white and grey. On inner edge of rim is band of squat half-marquises enclosing elaborate t-forms in black white and grey.

History Of Use

This bowl was probably produced in a south Chinese kiln during the early 20th century.
