Description

724 sheet metal discs and disc fragments, twelve with attached staples, all have one hole near edge (except some fragments). Some have gilding remaining, some have textile pseudomorphs, all have green and or red surface deposits. There are fifteen small discs and two large discs, the rest are mid-sized.

History Of Use

Small discs like these are mechanically fastened by staples to adornments, like masks and crowns belonging to the Vicus Style (Moseley, pl. XV; Disselhoff and Tushingham, pl.29).
