Description

A narrow strip of tapestry with stepped ends. Angular, interlocking bird motifs in green or blue with yellow beaks and eyes and red outlines. Interior of bird bodies are filled with small red motifs. The fabric is intact, including two weft selvedges and the original bound finish on the warp selvedges. Structure is under-float tapestry with vertical slits and some eccentric wefts.

History Of Use

Appears to be one complete half of a poncho shirt neck border. The colours, the geometric design, the use of space fillers and the under-float tapestry structure are typical of Ica Style fabrics Rowe).
