Rug Item Number: Nh164 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Rectangular, natural-coloured rug with woven designs. In the centre are five multicoloured, rectangular Yei figures holding spears and bunches of feathers(?), with arrows hanging from their elbows. On each figure the face, arms and legs are the same colour. There is a braided rope sewn on each end.

Iconographic Meaning

The figures represent holy people (Yei).
