Description

A polished red-brown hardwood with black crusted patina on the handle. The handle has a knob on its end. Two rings around the pestle's centre separate the slightly flared head from the handle.

History Of Use

Used by women to pound boiled yams, grind corn and cassava, and pound palm nuts to make oil.
