Description

Folding fan with thirty-nine inner ribs of split bamboo, highly perforated, and two white plastic parent ribs. Covered with silk on one side only, painted with grey wave design with two sailing boats and birds in red, with silver glitter, on white background. Silver paper around edge. Attached to silver-coloured rivet is cord of pink silk, 25cm. long (double), knotted, with tassels at end, strung with an imitation pearl.

History Of Use

Summer fan, round or folding, can be carried throughout the summer by both men and women. The folding fan is seen more often at the theatre or on the street as it can easily be tucked into the kimono or obi.
