Description

Brass spoon with slightly concave ellipse shaped bowl with faint longitudinal lines on upper surface. Handle is one piece with bowl, rectangular in transverse cross-section, 0.6cm. wide, widening slightly at both ends. Surface has uneven dull patina with black patches on underside, especially on handle.

History Of Use

Brass spoons for eating, as well as brass bowls and chopsticks, are commonly used by wealthier people in Korea. This spoon probably dates from the Late Yi Dynasty (ended in 1910).
