Pipe Item Number: Ee26 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

A light yellow pipe in two parts: a cylindrical bowl made of a segment of bamboo and a stem of narrow bamboo pierced through the centre. The stem is slotted into a hole halfway up the pipe bowl. Several strands of blue cotton thread are wrapped around the stem of the pipe and extend to the loop around the small wooden protrusion on the base of the bowl.

History Of Use

Pipes are an important personal possession of both men and women. Tobacco is a specialty product grown by some tribes in small quantities, but now mostly traded from the plains.
