Description

Belt made of hand-woven cotton in a fine regular weave. Multicoloured narrow bands run lengthwise providing a border effect. The central design has a multiple diamond motif in dark and bright red and is broken at regular intervals by cross-bars. The edges have been cut, turned and machine-hemmed.

History Of Use

This belt is an example of a typical Nepali style weaving on the hand loom. The design is based on a long tradition of native weaving. Belts of this type may be woven on a belt or loin loom, and cut into pieces for various purposes.
