Specific Techniques

Wrapped twining is a typical basket technique of the Nuu-chah-nulth. It uses two stiff cedar bark elements which cross, one stable warp, the other a stable weft, and are held together by flexible weft wrapping. Inside resembles coiling, outside shows diagonal twist pattern.
