Grey clay with a cream slip, pentagonal shaped, ceramic rim sherd. The underside has a horizontal design from the rim consisting of a red and black line and diamond design. The surface is concaved in shape and has red and black line design with two black circles.
Pre-Columbian Costa Rica was part of the transitional zone between the traditions of Meso America and South America. Influences from both areas are evident with the most powerful and extensive coming from the north, particularly for the Pacific area. Fragment of a 'Nicoya Geometric' bowl with typical rim motif (Lothrop, p.181; pl lxxvi, lxxx).
