Description

End of wood shaft is inserted with long metal prong. Both lashed together with cotton cord. Two notched antler prongs, one on each side of wood shaft are bound with rawhide thong. Ends of each antler prong have a nail inserted to form a reverse angle barb. Object is a Leister fishing spear for Arctic Char.

History Of Use

The spear was used with a downward vertical thrust. Thong provides elasticity when fish are speared. Fish is impaled on prong's barbs and the barbs' angles keep fish from slipping off once speared.
