Description

Short, rounded basket with a flat, square bottom and vertical bands of light and dark brown stripes around the sides. Plain, coarse twined, slope-sided basket with checker work base; braided rim with overlay on some warps forming a double warp decoration. Twelve vertical beading designs with yellow grass and darker brown than basket in general.

History Of Use

Baskets are used for carrying, storing and cooking. They were made and used by women and girls. Since baskets were important wealth items, the ability to produce high quality baskets was an important asset.
