Description

Flat-bottomed basketry cradle. Large slat coiled, imbricated and beaded cradle. Imbricated animal motif and wrapped rim; beaded at top and imbricated on narrow ends. Sides have a red and yellow horse-like motif. Four hide thongs, one on each side. Bottom is coiled.

History Of Use

'Lie-down' cradle, supported by buckskin thongs looped over each end. It was carried crosswise against the mother's back. Thompson area groups used these usually boldly decorated cradles up to the end of the 19th century.
