Point Item Number: Na1050 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Metal tip is inserted in slit of antler section and riveted. Antler is unilaterally barbed, has a line guard by the bottom barb, and end is cut on a diagonal. One antler side has a cancellous texture while the other is smooth.
Used mainly for hunting sea mammals. A harpoon consists of a point with a line attached and a shaft. When thrown, the shaft disengages while the point is embedded in the animal. The line is also attached to the shaft to prevent the shaft from being lost.
