Description

Two red rectangular panels, finely pleated to blue waist band; blue hem band; coarse plain weave with unmatched front panel of finer weave; machine sewn; embroidered from hip to hem with closely-spaced large, multi-coloured circles with contrasting centres, white cross stitch, and groups of three small circles. Hem band is of large multi-coloured circles and chevron borders. Embroidered with fishbone, cross, chain, and running stitches. Embroidery incomplete on front panel and side on right. Waist opening unfinished.

History Of Use

Usually worn below navel with a tight-fitting short blouse known as a choli, and a scarf over the head and shoulders known as an orhna.
