Description

Blue-green, hexagonal, glass ewer with short neck and pinched pouring end which are thicker than the body. Handle on neck has deep green lines; herring bone design on two sides of body; small triangles on two sides; three large triangles vertically placed with circle in centre on other two sides. All sides are slightly convex. Previously broken and repaired.

History Of Use

For storing and pouring liquids, including oil.

5th century Roman. Excavated at St. George's Cathedral in Jerusalem in 1927.
