Description

A rectangular white linen purse with a scalloped wood rim which has multi-coloured ties through it. One end has a tassel to close the purse. Embroidered around the top, there is a horizontal band consisting of abstract shapes in dark blue, red, burgundy, yellow, green, and orange on a light yellow background with dark blue circles on top. Below this band, around the middle, there is a horizontal row of green stitching. A wider embroidered band is below this green stitching around the bottom consisting of diamond and triangle shapes in dark blue, green, burgundy, red, and orange on a yellow background outlined with dark blue circles. Entire design is on a white lozenge-patterned fabric background. Bottom is white cotton with a line of interwoven green around it. Inside is lined with white cotton.

Made and used by women. It is worn on special occasions such as festivals and for celebrating Easter.
