History Of Use

Armbands or 'pas pas' are a traditional form of ornamentation for both men and women. Though some types cannot be worn by women after they are married. These armbands were made by Biami men. Their production was promoted by missionaries as they provided a source of revenue for local groups. The quality and variety are related to the status and wealth of the wearer.
