Description
Gong beater. Cylindrical shaped solid pale white-yellow soft wood drum beater which has been roughly adzed to narrow handle.
History Of Use
Drum beater used to beat a split gong drum. Wood is generally softer than the greenheart wood of the drum so it does not damage the drum. Beaters are frequently replaced. The drum is used to call people to meetings and presently used by churches to call the congregation.
