Description

Long, round carved wood piece. The top has three rings then the carved head of an animal with eyes protruding from both sides, a long snout with nose at end and a mouth with a tongue sticking out.

History Of Use

The beater is inserted into the slit of the gong and run back and forth against the sides and ends of the gong to produce sound. The slit gong and beater are used more for signalling, messages of distress or announcements of festivals than for musical or dancing purposes.
