Bark Pattern Item Number: Na715 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Square of thin, papery birch bark with a design bitten into a circular flower motif of eight flowers all pointing towards the centre.

History Of Use

Artists bite on pieces of birch bark in order to form designs. Thin and flexible pieces of birch bark are chosen, usually in the early spring. They bite using their eyeteeth, and often fold the bark in order to bite through layers to make symmetrical designs.
