Description

A small circular bronze mirror with ten Chinese (?) character seals on one side of the circumference of the reflecting surface while the other side has a Korean (?) building with a leaf pattern around the edge and three leaves under the building. At the centre of the building, there is hemispheric handle through which there is threaded a knotted white cotton cord.

History Of Use

Modern (20th century) piece done in the style of earlier Korean and Chinese bronze mirrors. The most interesting Chinese mirrors were made from approximately 400 B.C.E. to 800 C.E. Korean bronze work was influenced by Chinese work and the art in Korea declined in the 12th-13th centuries.
