Description

Silk, rectangular sash on damask fabric with unfinished edges on the narrow ends; turned weave creates repeating leaf pattern; background has alternating horizontal stripes of red and black; centre has two patterns of formalized black leaves and vines with white and yellow blossoms, leaves outlined with blue and white, flower centres outlined with gold. Single leaf pattern at each end.

History Of Use

Used to help secure obi by wrapping around waist and tying in front, it is then pushed down between the obi and kimono to form a decorative border.
