Description

Round brass bowl (a) and lid (b). Bowl is on a flat base with ring foot. Rounded sides expanding to below midpoint, curving in slightly to mouth, which is 8.1 cm in diameter with rolled rim. Lid is convex with two parallel engraved lines at rim and has a separately attached knob at centre top. Knob is cone-shaped with bulbous knob at apex. Both pieces have dull patina.

History Of Use

This type of rice bowl is used by middle and upper class children. Larger sizes are used by adults. Brass serving and eating utensils are used by wealthier people in Korea.
