History Of Use

Assam has been famous since ages past for the variety and beauty of its many textiles. They weave cloth for their personal use with a design and colour. Every household has its loom set up in a prominent location. The family is proud of their weaving and their traditional designs. Assamese design often displays qualities of an adaptation of tribal aesthetics associated with peoples living in areas surrounding the Assames Plains. Tribal designs have been taken into the core of Assames Style. This shawl is an example of this incorporation of tribal motifs.
