Description

Loom made from wooden and bamboo dowels; cord for hanging tied across the top. Upper portion of loom is covered with the completed half of an abaca leaf stem weaving; weaving is covered with vertical stripes and bands of patterning in red, black and white. Bottom portion consists of several wooden and bamboo dowels and spool-like objects, all engaged in the strands of abaca yet to be woven. Part a refers to the overall loom and attached weaving/strands. Part b is the large bamboo dowel, or weight, at the bottom of the loom. Part c is a wooden spool-like dowel wound with black abaca strands that sits just below the heddle. Part d is a is a wide, flat wooden piece with ends tapered to a point.
