Description

Print called "Picture of great Japanese victory at the battle of the Port of Lushun (Port Arthur)". Shows naval scene of men in two boats, three with sabres drawn, others firing rifles off to the left. Two ships in the background. Colours are blue-green, purple, grey, black, red, green, yellow and brown. Japanese characters at the top right corner indicate that it is an illustration of the Japanese navy.

Narrative

This print is the right-side print of the triptych entitled, Nihon-gun daishōri, Ryojunkō daigekisen no zu (日本軍大勝利旅順港大激戦図; Picture of great Japanese victory at the battle of the Port of Lushun [Port Arthur]), published by Tsunajima Kamekichi (綱島亀吉). The title is on the right. There is no artist signature on the print, or the triptych.
