Description

Rectangular colour print within a white paper frame. Print is of a small village at the water’s edge, backed by a forest. There is a sandy path leading to the village, on which people and pack animals are travelling. In the background is a sailboat and a snow-peaked mountain against a white sky. There is a box with Japanese writing in the upper right corner. Stamped on the frame back is "Printed in Japan".

History Of Use

Reproduction print from the series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji". The original woodblock print series was created by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, and produced c. 1830 to 1832. The series depicted Mount Fuji from a variety of views and locations, sometimes up close and sometimes off in the distance. The date of this reproduction is unknown.
