Description

Rectangular colour print within a white paper frame. Print is of a large boat filled with people in the water. A man sits in the stern with a long pole. Nearby, partially hid by a bridge section, is another boat with a woman leaning over the side, putting a cloth in the water. In the distance is a green bridge and a blue mountain against a white sky. There is a box with Japanese writing in the upper left corner. Stamped on the frame back is "Printed in Japan".

History Of Use

Reproduction print from the series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji". The original woodblock print series was created by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, and produced c. 1830 to 1832. The series depicted Mount Fuji from a variety of views and locations, sometimes up close and sometimes off in the distance. The date of this reproduction is unknown.
