Description

Rectangular colour print within a white paper frame. There is a large log supported by two stands. Several men stand beneath and one on top of the log, cutting with hand saws. In the background is billowing smoke, green shrubs and a large snow-peaked mountain against a blue sky. There is a box with Japanese writing in the upper left corner. Stamped on the frame back is "Printed in Japan".

History Of Use

Reproduction print from the series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji". The original woodblock print series was created by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, and produced c. 1830 to 1832. The series depicted Mount Fuji from a variety of views and locations, sometimes up close and sometimes off in the distance. The date of this reproduction is unknown.
