Description

Storage jar on a flat base with a rounded body, long tapered neck and everted rim. On the body and neck are abstract designs composed of many thin black lines, thick brown lines and geometric motifs on yellow and black grounds. The interior is painted black.

Iconographic Meaning

The zigzag design on the neck of the jar represents a river, with the lines of dots and small triangles symbolizing an anaconda. The alternating hexagons on the body of the pot represent the iguana, which is flanked by imagery derived from tortoises and turtle shells.
