Description

Elongated oval wood shield with squared bottom edge. The front has carved and painted decoration, which consists of two burnt orange figures outlined with dark brown inside a white background circle. The upper figure is small, seated and a side view while the larger lower figure is depicted frontal view from the waist up, sitting in a boat painted with vertical stripes of orange, white and brown. A paddle lies over the boat and, between the two figures, is an axe head-shaped design. The back of the shield is stained black and from the centre protrudes a handle with a rectangular hole.
